Multiple Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France, June 2005-June 2010
The images shown here were shot over the summers of 2005 and 2006. I was then 18 and 19 and drawn to the public works that would completely revamp Bordeaux.
The new tramway created a more open and peaceful city center with entire streets devoted to pedestrians and cyclists. The new system also brought the suburban communities much closer to Bordeaux's center. The first phase of the growing network was completed late 2008.
Between 2005 and 2008, I hadn't anything in mind but to respond to that changing urban landscape. In 2008, I ended up with a series of pictures depicting moods not facts.
Between 2008 and 2010 the project grew into an installation of twelve mobile displays, placed where each picture was taken. It received both an official support and grant from the cultural department of the city.
Similar to Guy Debord's psychogeography and dérive, two concepts I wasn't aware of while shooting this project, I set up a meandering track in the city in twelve steps.
