Olympiazentrum

In the course of a 5-day Magnum Photos workshop during the 2011 edition of Fotodoks photo festival in Munich, Germany; I photogaphed Olympiazentrum, the former Olympic village now repurposed in student housing.  

September 5, 1972. Israeli athletes and coaches are kidnapped. Failed rescue attempts lead to a dramatic outcome: 11 people are killed. 

Walking and photographing Olympiazentrum left me with the impression that 

They live with the overhanging backdrop of a traumatic event that occured when all the eyes in the world were drawn to Munich.
